Hae Seoung Kim

is a Director/Producer/Editor based in New York, Los Angeles, and Seoul. While traveling between South Korea and the US, she has directed three short films and produced a narrative feature in South Korea. Her work has been selected for several film festivals, and her directorial work, Wednesdays, won the best female student director award in the Indie Shorts Awards Seoul.

While she treasures her identity as an Asian female artist, she is not afraid to transcend racial and social barriers. Her work has portrayed a broad spectrum of people, including a hearing-impaired person, a Korean adoptee, a racially mixed couple, and Japanese comfort women. Hae Seoung Kim's portrayals of characters are never bombastic but always sensitive and realistic. The first thing she does when making a film is to ensure she loves her characters.
